• Aston Martin Rapide & DBS Volante voted the most beautiful cars of 2009 by readers of Auto Motor und Sport magazine in Germany
• Even before its global launch the Rapide won in the ‘Premium Class’ category
• The DBS Volante came in a clear first place in the ‘Convertibles’ category
Gaydon/Frankfurt, 16 September 2009. Aston Martin has been recognised by readers of Auto Motor und Sport magazine in Germany as one of the most successful car makers of 2009. The new DBS Volante which was launched this summer and the elegant new four-door Rapide sports car, seen for the first time at the Frankfurt IAA this month, both won categories in the vote.

The fact that the Rapide was voted one of the best design innovations in 2009 even prior to its launch demonstrates that Aston Martin sets standards in automotive design”, says Dr. Ulrich Bez, Aston Martin Chief Executive.
The Aston Martin Rapide, won the ‘Premium Class’ with over 37.2% of the vote ahead of the Masserati Quattroporte and the Porsche Panamera. The DBS Volante received more than 49.2% of the readers’ vote in the ‘Convertibles’ category, with the Audi A5 convertible coming second and the BMW Z4 in third place. The Aston Martin One-77 was also recognised with a third place award in the ‘Sports Car’ category.
In total, 10,429 readers of the magazine took part in the annual auto motor und sport autonis vote. Respondents were asked to select their ‘most beautiful cars 2009’ from the 89 new models covered in the last twelve months’ editions of the magazine across eight different categories.
