Gaydon, 5 July, Aston Martin continues to enhance its reputation for performance, reliability and success within the Nürburgring VLN endurance championship, securing another two class wins in the weekend's Langstrecken Meisterschaft Nürburgring four hour race on the legendary Nordschleife circuit.
The company's Nürburgring Test Centre team entered a near-standard V12 Vantage for Test Centre Director Wolfgang Schuhbauer and Chief Engineer Chris Porritt; the experienced pair duly claimed 20th overall from a field of 153 starters and class victory in the SP8 category.
In the SP10 category for GT4 cars, customer team Mathol Racing followed up their class win in the recent Nürburgring 24 hour race with another class victory and an impressive 23rd overall in their V8 Vantage GT4, while VLN regulars Gentle Swiss Racing came home 29th and 3rd in class.
Reflecting on his first race in the V12 Vantage, Wolfgang Schuhbauer commented: "Once again we have shown just how accomplished and durable our sports cars are. The Nordschleife is uncompromising in its ability to test a car to its limits, but time and time again the Aston Martins finish and often ahead of many purpose built endurance racers. The Test Centre team performed excellently and my congratulations go to Mathol and Gentle Swiss Racing."
