The Team Modena Aston Martin DBR9 continues to be on the pace in the 2007 Le Mans 24-Hour race, running fourth at the end of four hours of racing in the LM GT1 class, and 16th overall in the 54-car field. After lengthy interruptions for incidents and the weather, the track is now dry under the evening sun and Jos Menten is in the car completing his first race laps at Le Mans.
Christian Fittipaldi took over the car from Antonio Garcia drove the opening stint, but the Brazilian drove the first part of his stint behind the wheel behind the Safety Car as repairs were made to the circuit barriers after an incident at Tertre Rouge. Once racing was resumed Christian pitted from third in class on lap 46 to hand over to Jos.
"I spent the first half of my time in the car following the Safety Car," said Christian. "Then the car felt a little strange to drive, but a front tyre was low on pressure - we shall see how the car is when I am next out."
In the opening four hours the Aston Martin has completed 52 laps of the 8.4-mile circuit - with another 20 hours of racing ahead of the team. Four cars have already retired due to a combination of incidents or mechanical failure.
