With the ADAC Nϋrburgring 24-hour race approaching the 19-hour mark, the Phoenix Racing/Aston Martin Austria DBRS9 has unfortunately retired after experiencing a loss in oil pressure.
The DBRS9 had been running 4th overall and 2nd in class.
Aston Martin Head of Product Communications & Motorsport, David King said: “It was a lot to ask for a DBRS9 to run for 24-hours here without any previous 24-hour race experience.
“The Phoenix team did a great job and the car was running exceptionally well – challenging for a podium – against some very tough competition.”
Dirk Theimann, Team Manager, Phoenix Racing said: “We were really pleased with how competitive the car was, particularly in the wet conditions at the start of the race. We were cautious in the fog during the night and the car was performing very well.
“Our last lap of 8 minutes 54 seconds lap was fantastic and shows the potential for this car.”
